Trainings and Presentations
The goal of our trainings is to educate individuals and groups on secondhand smoke science, community advocacy, and policy development and implementation.  We offer a variety of options, from 2 hour mini-workshops to full-day trainings which can be made to accommodate groups both small and large. We cater our trainings and presentations to meet the needs of our clients. An overview of our core training modules may be viewed online.

Education
We offer a variety of educational materials and tools, including an Advocacy in Action Toolbox; an Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS) Policy Manual and Supplement; an extensive collection of up-to-date scientific articles; fact sheets on a variety of secondhand smoke related topics; a quarterly newsletter; and smokefreenc.org a clearinghouse for local tobacco prevention resources.

Research
We design and conduct research relating to local and state level secondhand smoke policies in North Carolina. Our research has included studies on the tobacco use policies in state-controlled buildings, health departments; indoor recreational facilities; as well as an examination of cessation behavior and pregnancy. Publications of our research are available online.

Consultations and Technical Assistance
We provide consultations and support to local and state coalitions on the development of comprehensive clean indoor air campaigns and the implementation of effective advocacy strategies. We also offer technical assistance and training to NC Health and Wellness Trust Fund Grantees on secondhand smoke science, policy, and media advocacy.
